CHATBOT - CASE STUDY


THE BRAND

Mary's Nutritionals is an online retailer that provides quality CBD products, and ZOE will be the voice of the brand. ZOE will be responsible to provide helpful guidance to the consumers while maintaining an upbeat personality. Throughout the dialogue, ZOE's main goal will be to gain the user's acknowledgment and trust to provide an organic and pleasant conversation. Subsequently, ZOE’s mission will be to understands how difficult and confusing it is to shop for a product that until recently was banned and stigmatized as a drug.

VISION

Mary's Nutritionals main purpose is to provide to its consumers a more satisfying and enjoyable quality of life through the use of plant-based ingredients and products. Marrying modern technology with secured and stabilized horticulture allows for easy integration of the therapeutic power of plants into one’s daily routine.

MISSION

The Mission is to provide products that match or surpass the quality standards that plant-based products are required to meet. Our scientists are professionals and they collaborate with some of the most prominent physicians in their fields to develop plant-based remedies and therapies. This enables consumers to take control of their health with targeted, and results-driven methods.





DESIGN PROCESS


DESIGN OBJECTIVE


The CBD market is booming however, many consumers are not ready to make the jump mainly for the stigma that CBD carries with it. The taught of purchasing a CBD product sometimes comes with the question of "Am I purchasing Weed" or "Is this Marijuana," and all these questions are due to the lack of information about CBD products. The main objective was to create a persona (ZOE) that would help the consumer feel confident and secure while navigating the website while educating them throughout the process. Our chatbot ZOE will assist with general questions such as where to find proper documentation for its products or how to locate the FAQ section. ZOE will also assist the consumer with more personal questions such as what type of symptoms the user is experiencing and what products are more appropriate for those symptoms.

DESIGN PROCESS


After doing some secondary research and visiting multiple CBD websites I could not find any that had Chatbot support. The closest chat function support I was able to find was an option asking for a phone number and an email address which stated that someone would reply at soon as possible. The main goal for ZOE our chatbot was to create a secure and comfortable atmosphere for our consumer, something that other sites were not pursuing.

WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT CHATBOTS


What I enjoyed the most was how immersive and intuitive the process was. Coming up with answers and questions throughout the process was a fun experience, as well as guiding the conversation in any direction. I was able to design an experience that touched most of the website's core sections, such as the Products, FAQs, and the About Us.




WHAT I LIKE LEAST


The most challenging part of designing a chatbot was the conversation, trying to find a happy medium was a priority. At one point I realized that the questions I was presenting were too fluid, I did not want to give the impression that the consumer was talking to another human; at the same time, I did not want to create a chatbot that would sound lifeless.


HOW DOES IT COMPARE


Compared to the websites from my competitive analysis and knowing that none of them had any chat support my chatbot came up as a clear winner. However, when comparing them to other chatbots such as KIAN from KIA and DOM from Domino's Pizza I realized that Chatbots are tools that are created with minimal personalities. The Chatbots from KIA and Domino's were direct when providing answers or when asking questions, and they show no signs of personality at all. I am confident that chatbots will evolve with time and they eventually will be giving a personality something that is needed in order for the technology to keep moving forward.
